Introduction

World Gliding Championship is the top aeronautic event. It is organised every 2 years with the patronage of the international aviation federation FAI and with the cooperation of national aviation institution of organising state. Between 2 championships the next organiser has obligation to organise the pre-competition, which is great possibility for training. This will be held in Prievidza the next month from 5 to 15 August 2009.

The last championship took place in Italian town Rieti, in 2010 the top glider pilots will be in Prievidza and in 2012 they will move in Australia.

More than 110 competitors together with 300 crew members from 25 world countries will participate this contest. Along with media and visitors Prievidza and its surrounding will become a temporary home for more than 500 people.
